Kings seeking billets

The Strathmore Wheatland Kings junior B hockey club is looking for billets for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.
A billet is a family that hosts a player as if he is a member of the family for the duration of the hockey season.
If you host a King, the benefits are $400 per month, which goes towards lodging and food for the players. All players must provide the families with post-dated cheques to be paid to the hosts for the first of every month. Also, the billet family gets free season passes for all the games.
“There is no particular deadline. We are looking for billets immediately, like the sooner the better that we can get people on board,” said Mike Langen, president and billet coordinator for the Wheatland Kings.
The search for billets is in its early stages but the team is optimistic that every out of town player will have a home.
“Any player from out of province that are going to be coming in, so for those guys it will enable them to have a place to stay and concentrate on their hockey,” he said.
Before training camp started on Sept. 2, the organization needed a couple more families to commit to players.
“We are now in need of only one more billet family potentially by the end of the week,” said Langen
“We currently have two local families willing to billet three kids from out of town.”
The Wheatland Kings training camp goes from Sept. 2-4. Game action begins with two home exhibition games on Sept. 6 vs. Three Hills at 8 p.m. and Sept. 7 vs. High River at 5 p.m. Game admission is free of charge.
