Halloween costume exchange

Have you been wondering what to do with the loved, but no longer useful, Halloween costumes cluttering up your house? The Strathmore Municipal Library is offering a costume exchange on Oct. 3 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to help you come up with costume ideas, get rid of your old costumes, and find new ones.
The library has hosted a number of exchanges, including a plant exchange and a bulb exchange, and staff were trying to think of another way to help out the community.
“What we thought is everyone has Halloween costumes kicking around in their closets, so let’s do a Halloween costume exchange,” said Assistant Director of Library Services Carmen Erison.
For every one costume brought in you will receive a Halloween costume ticket and for every accessory brought in you will receive a costume accessory ticket.
“Accessories include things like witches’ hats, swords, those types of things. The costume will be the full costume itself,” said Erison.
The library has already begun accepting costumes and accessories to prepare for the exchange.
“Participants are welcome to drop off new and used costumes at the library starting Monday, Sept. 22, until the day of the costume exchange,” said Erison.
“At that time you will receive a ticket for the items you drop off and you must bring your ticket with you to the costume exchange to receive your costume. Dropping off your costumes ahead of time allows us to have a general stock of costumes at the beginning of the exchange.”
Erison said one of the big questions the library gets during all of the exchanges is, what if you don’t have something to exchange? Anyone who does not have one to exchange but would still like to take part is invited to go to the library on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. where they can purchase costumes and/or accessories for a small donation to the library. Costumes for all ages will be accepted.
