Finding ‘me time’ at Curves

Fall means a flurry of activity for families as they prepare for school, sporting activities and prepping the family home for the season ahead. This can mean women forget to take time for themselves.
An online survey, conducted by Harris Polls for Curves, indicated seven in every 10 women polled responded that they would like more “me time” in a given week. Surveys indicate women chose fitness and wellness activities, such as going to the gym or exercising, as one of the top four ways to spend “me time.”
Jana Koppe, owner of Strathmore Curves, said the 30-minute strength-training circuit, combined with exercise designed by celebrity exercise coach Jillian Michaels, is a great fitness regime that has gains beyond the physical.
“When you take care of yourself, it goes back to taking care of your family,” said Koppe.
With the Curves Complete program, women also have a fully integrated, personalized weight loss and management solution, including customizable meal plans with one-on-one coaching support. A Curves Complete coach has completed a certification program developed in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most respected hospitals in the USA. For more information on Curves Complete programs, see www.curves.com. Koppe and one of her senior trainers have taken the 40 hours of fitness and diet training, which gave them the certification to help women train safely and efficiently to reach their goals.
The Strathmore Curves has members as young as 13 and others in their 80s, so age need not limit women from participating.
“It is part of our philosophy to encourage women in all aspects of their lives,” said Knoppe.
To that end, Curves is the ideal place to make new friends and network too. There are two unique micro-businesses that display their goods in the Strathaven store; Tracey Cornett JK apparel and Brenda Graff small Regal retail outlet are set up within the store.
Curves of Strathmore, located at #5, 104 Strathaven Drive, will be hosting an open house the week of Sept. 15-20. New members will get 30 days of free exercise time. The week will also feature free fitness for non-members at the 6:45 p.m. sessions and a free draw for four months of free exercise time. Koppe said the open house will be a good time for anyone interested to test-drive the program.
She encourages women to stop by anytime and talk with staff, to see if their “me time” could include “Curve’s time” towards a fuller and healthy lifestyle.
