Councillor Bob Sobol and his wife Gina manned the dunk tank booth during the Canada Day celebrations on July 1. At the July 16 town council meeting Sobol announced that $1,101 had been raised to donate to the Growing Families Society. Councillor Pat Fule thanked Sobol and his wife on behalf of council for all of the hard work they put in to make the day successful.

Seniors Advisory
Two more community members were appointed to the Seniors Advisory committee on July 16. Earl Best and Lorrain Farran were appointed for a term of two years. At this point there are four members on the committee; once that number reaches 10 they will be able to begin having meetings.
Town donations
The Alberta Development Officers Association is celebrating 30 years this year and had sent a request to the town to see if Strathmore would donate funds to be used towards the celebrations.
Council approved the request, donating $300 to the association.
The town has been involved with the association for over 20 years.
Cost study proposal
During the questions section of the meeting Councillor Rocky Blokland suggested that a cost study be undertaken to look into widening the sidewalks on Second Avenue, and possibly Third Avenue, to see trees and shrubs put into place. Blokland said he would also like to see rock planters as cigarette butt-out stations placed at both ends of the street.
