If you like eating a sweet treat before having a good laugh, then the Dessert and Comedy evening fundraiser at the Harvest Healing Centre Church is for you.
The comedy night will take place on May 3 at the new church building, located at 102 Canal Gardens. The night begins at 6 p.m. with an array of desserts, comedy and a silent auction to help raise money for the building fund.
Local comedian Jim Bob Geddes will be putting on two sets of laughs, with a small intermission allowing people to check how their bid is doing.
“Our building was built with community outreach in mind and we thought this would be a fun way to raise funds to finish off some things in the building so we can begin to launch some of our projects and be of better service to our community,” said Pastor Elizabeth Karp, in a press release.
“We are looking forward to connecting with you.”
The dessert bar will feature goodies like a chocolate fountain, hot cinnamon buns, cupcakes, and everyone’s favourite, a sundae bar.
Some of the items up for grabs in the silent auction will be tools and tool cabinets, outdoor gear, a signed Switchfoot Guitar and home decorating items.
Tickets are on sale for $15/each or two for $25. To purchase in advance call 403-880-3171. There will be some tickets available at the door.
