There is much talk these days about bucket lists, which are also known as 101 things to do before you die. It is a list of all the goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfill and life experiences you desire to experience before you die.
Everyone has their wish list, so to speak, of all the things that they would like to do, see or experience, from the really simple and mundane to extraordinary and virtually impossible feats.
Meadowlark Seniors Care Home is helping their residents tackle their own group bucket list, and had a blast doing it. Residents Florence Shannon, Helen Jensen and Eldon Wray along with Meadowlark owner/operator Debbie Wakelam and staff went to Oxbow Golf Club and golfed nine holes.
All of them agreed something they could do together from the group list is go horseback riding. Wray said he “longs to drive a team of horses again, just one more time and have an entire day where all the meals include peanut butter.” Jensen, who just celebrated her 90th birthday, wishes to have a “ride in the Rocky Mountains in a helicopter.”
“It is important for our residents to live life to the fullest and if we can help them accomplish that then I know we are doing our jobs to the best of our abilities,” said Wakelam.
