Braves want committed team efforts

Despite being near the top of the standings, Wheatland Braves head coach Keith Klemmensen is not satisfied after the team’s 6-1 win over the Bow Valley Timberwolves on Dec. 5 at home.
“They get ideas that they think they’ve accomplished something. They haven’t perfected or really been good at anything on the front end yet consistently,” said Klemmensen.
He admits his team has worked together at times during the game but are inconsistent in other parts.
“At times you see it, it’s a funny group because sometimes they do a real team thing and the second you pat them on the back, they just go back to being selfish and about themselves. It’s going to inhibit what they’re going to be able to accomplish,” said Klemmensen.
“If they trust each other to be able to execute what’s going on out there, they’ll be fine because everybody’s improving when they trust each other but if they don’t it looks like the Keystone cops out there.”
The learning curve for the team right now is that they can beat teams on any given night but also can be beaten with their inconsistent play.
Mo Hakim led the way with three goals while Tristan Zandee, Kyle Crnkovic and Tegan Skehar added one each.
In Okotoks on Saturday night, the team provided put on offensive clinic with a 12-1 pounding of the Okotoks Oilers Black.
Crnkovic was a one-man show with nine goals, while Zandee had two and Kyle Bray had one.
The local peewee double-A team plays the Lethbridge Hurricanes (6 p.m.) on Dec. 13 in Hussar, and host the Okotoks Oilers green (4:15 p.m.) on Dec. 14 at Strathmore Family Centre.
