Billets needed

The Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games committee is looking to find billets for some of the seniors who will be coming to take part in the games July 16-19, 2015. “The only thing we need people to do as far as billeting goes is to give these people a bed to sleep in. There’s nothing else that they really need to give their house up for,” said Jackie Lozeron, director of accommodations for the games.
The billets are needed for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, July 16-18. All meals will be covered by the games.
Anyone interested in offering up a spare room or two will be required to fill out a form in advance. The form addresses a number of different details to ensure both the senior, and the billet, are finding the best match for each other for that weekend.
There is some hotel space available, and the hotels are working with Lozeron and the games committee to offer what they can to help out that weekend as well.
It’s not known yet how many billets will be needed, and won’t be until closer to the games, but Lozeron said, “we’re hoping for people to billet, but if they sign up that doesn’t necessarily mean we would need them.”
“They don’t have to totally confirm that they are doing it now. So I don’t want to deter people thinking ‘I don’t know what I’m doing in July’ but if they even want to consider it, and in June or in May they realize they can’t do it, we wouldn’t hold them to it,” said Lozeron.
