Aquatic Centre offers online registration

There’s good news for all parents who want to register their children in swim lessons: the Aquatic Centre is now offering online registration. Starting at 9 a.m. on Sept. 13, people can go online to https://onlineca.activecommunities.com/tos/Activities/ActivitiesAdvSearch.asp, and sign themselves, or their children, up for one of the many lessons offered. Last year the lineup on registration day went out into the parking lot, which is part of the reason for the new system this year. The other reason is it also brings new options to parents, while coming in line with other municipalities that use an online registration system.
“We’re going to be prepared this time for that big lineup but we don’t anticipate that there should be that big of a lineup because I’m hoping some people will take advantage of the iReg,” said Brenda Condon, pool manager.
“This will give people an opportunity to stay at home and be able to register.”
There will be a staff member available upstairs at the Aquatic Centre for registration. They will be dedicated to showing people how to use the online registration system just in case they do need a little bit of help, said Condon.
In order to sign up on iReg, the pool needs to already have your e-mail address in order to create an account online. Condon said all people have to do is call the pool and a staff member can set it up.
“We’re just getting it so everybody can do what’s comfortable for them. Some people don’t like the phone, some people don’t want to come in, they can do it online,” said Condon.
The new system should make things easier for everyone involved this year, but it doesn’t mean that the programs won’t fill up quickly.
“Some classes are going to fill up right away. I would say in the Sea Otter, Salamander and Swim Kids 1, you should get on it right away,” she said.
A description of the courses available and their times can also be found on the iReg site.
