Mr. Yu went on to introduce the Sportsmanship and Athlete of the Year awards. “When our students participate in the various sports throughout the school year, there are particular students who stand out as athletes. These students stand out for their sportsmanship. They are the first to congratulate a teammate for a success and the first to support a teammate in defeat. Their sportsmanship stands out and we would like to recognize those athletes that exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship in sport”.
Junior High Sportsmanship Award – Christopher Everett and Julia Newell.
Senior High Sportsmanship Award – Matthew Geeaert and Nicole Ellis.
“The athlete of the year is someone who strives to ‘compete’ fairly, but with vigor towards sport. These students will be students that will try to the last point, especially in defeat. They will continue to seek improvement and can be seen working on skills beyond what is considered ‘ good enough’. These students will seek to participate in as many sports as possible and attempt their best in each one”.
