A second woman has been charged in the death of 26-year-old Tak Tai Lawrence Leung of Chilliwack, B.C. Leung died on May 18, defending his girlfriend, who has not been named, after a fight broke out between her and two other women at a home in Gleichen.
Leung drove to Gleichen for the long weekend to spend time with his girlfriend whom he had met on an online dating site.
An altercation broke out between Allison Rose Oldwoman, 20, and Kristy Noel Redgun, 18, both from Siksika. The women are alleged to have stabbed Leung’s girlfriend before he intervened to save her.
“A few months ago they met online, I know there was some indication that this may have been a luring incident, that’s not the case here. They met on an online dating site, they were known to each other prior to this incident and Mr. Leung was simply coming out to spend the long weekend with his girlfriend,” said Staff Sgt. Ben Scott with the Calgary RCMP at a press conference on May 24.
“Mr. Leung in this instance was doing what I believe any parent or family member would want and that is stepping in to protect somebody and unfortunately it ended in this loss of his life.”
Oldwoman and Redgun have been charged with first-degree murder.
