Since the announcement about the closure of the extended care unit at the Strathmore hospital there have been concerns that hospital itself could be soon closing its doors.
“I had a conversation with Minister Fred Horne this morning (Sept. 13) regarding the extended care wing at the hospital. There are some concerns (about) the hospital being shut down and he assures me unequivocally that our hospital would never be shut down because it is integral part of our community,” said Mayor Steve Grajczyk.
“He is going to inform me and council as to what’s planned for the extended care wing. They are definitely not shutting down the hospital, he reiterated that very loudly.”
A meeting will be set up between the new chair of Alberta Health Services, the mayor, council and administration in the next little while.
