On Sept. 2, cycling fans received a behind-the-scenes-look, on City Television, at what it takes to put on (and compete) in the Tour of Alberta. Making The Tour, a 30-minute documentary showing the views of organizers and representatives of the 10 Alberta communities involved with the event. 
Also featured was 20-year-old Kristopher Dahl of Calgary, who earned a spot on Team SmartStop p/b Mountain Khakis by winning the U-23 group at the 2013 Banff Lake Louise Bikefest this past June. Dahl’s training, commitment, and determination were highlighted, to show how difficult it is to become a professional cyclist.
With a commitment of $3.5 million, the Rural Alberta Development Fund (RADF) is providing the foundation for the Tour of Alberta’s first year; the RADF helps communities bring visions to life by funding creative projects. The program was created as an outcome of the Government of Alberta’s rural development strategy – A Place To Grow – to assist rural communities and kick-start projects.
