The quaint little Anglican Church in Gleichen, St. Andrew’s celebrated their patronal feast day with a service and a spaghetti supper that followed.
Bishop Greg Kerr-Wilson from the Anglican Diocese in Calgary presided over the Eucharistic service at the Church with Reverend Brad Everett and Rev. Canon Bob Greene assisting him. The three ministers were vested in red symbolizing not only that it was a feast day but also that Andrew was martyred for his faith.
Kerr-Wilson gave an excellent interactive and engaging homily that included what history was available about St. Andrew.
Andrew is hailed as the Patron Saint of Scotland and first called of Christ’s apostles.
Diane Brown (member of St. Andrew’s) catered the spaghetti supper in the new Church hall. Members and guests spent the early evening fellowshipping with one another and enjoying the meal.
Bishop Kerr-Wilson then headed off with his wife Vickie to Fort McLeod to preside over their service on Sunday.
