Riding in a helicopter can be an exciting experience, and something not many people will have a chance to do. Thanks to a personal donation from Mayor Steve Grajczyk, two high school students will have a chance to find out first hand just how exciting it is.
“It’s going to be for the student that’s having a little bit of a tough time making it, but needs a little push of encouragement,” said Grajczyk.
Grajczyk placed the winning bid for a helicopter ride at the Strathmore for Haiti fundraiser in March, and has in turn opted to re-donate it.
Principals at both Strathmore High School and Holy Cross Collegiate will determine which of their students will participate. The students must have marks of at least 65 per cent.
“I’m hoping to continue this year after year,” said Grajczyk.
The flight will take place in June and the helicopter will fly over Strathmore and the area for approximately 30 minutes. Grajczyk is donating the flight as a way to say congratulations to the kids, while reminding them to keep it up and keep going with their studies.
