Striving for the youth

Superintendent of Schools  – Golden Hills School Division

Golden Hills School Division is always striving to continue to be forward thinking and forward moving when it comes to its students and schools. Changes to school fees and bussing have already been discussed and will be implemented in the 2012/2013 school year. In addition to those changes here are a few others we at Golden Hills School Division are committed to.
• Continued focus on AISI (Alberta Initiative for School Improvement) project
• Continued changes to the way we teach that allow students to develop into innovators, thinkers, doers and connectors through the development of 21st C. learning skills
• This year we are moving to the next stages of student assessment and working toward changes for a new report card for all Gr K-9 students in Golden Hills.  This report card will focus on student progress based on learning outcomes more than letter grades
• Golden Hills is enhancing programming in many schools across the district with the addition of One to One computer initiatives, enhanced Arts programming, additional Advanced Placement (AP) programs, hockey academies and building partnerships with schools outside Golden Hills and internationally including the Calgary Science School
• We had a number of teachers retire at the end of last school year and want to give a warm welcome to the many new teachers that will be starting with us across Golden Hills in September.
