With many people making the commute to the city for work, and life just being busy in general, it can be hard to take a minute to relax and get to know your neighbours.
Which is why the Town of Strathmore is hoping to host the President’s Choice BBQ Town grand prize event. The Grand prize is a BBQ event for up to 5,000 people including family entertainment, stage shows with Hedley as the headliner and a chance to set a World Record. There will also be $25,000 donated to President’s Choice Children’s Charity.
Strathmore and another 600 communities across Canada were pre-selected for a chance to win. There is a link on the Town of Strathmore Facebook page that will take people to the PC BBQ Town webpage. People can comment, giving the town an even better chance of being entered in for the grand prize.
“The more hits we get and the more comments we get, brings us up higher and they take the top 20 communities. Then out of those 20 (communities) people vote on them, so we have to get as many votes as we can on May 28,” said Jennifer Cuthbertson, administrative assistant for the Town.
Voting begins on May 28 and will run until June 11. There will be a vote button under each community’s name, and only one vote per e-mail is allowed per day.
There are nine secondary prizes available, which are a BBQ for up to 2,000 people. As of May 15, Strathmore was in 11th place. Residents are encouraged to go to the Town of Strathmore Facebook page to the link and leave a comment, or go to www.pcbbqtown.ca.
From May 28 to June 11 don’t forget to vote daily for Strathmore to win the grand prize, and bring the community together.
