The Annual Standard Library’s Ham & Oyster supper has come and gone for another year. Well over 200 people were in attendance for this community meal.
People come from all over East Wheatland to get their fill of oysters and member of the Standard Library Board, Lori Bach said “it was a great turnout and quite frankly the best we have had in years.”
At the end of the evening 20 quarts of raw oysters were sold at $20 a quart. Again, a part of the success of these types of fundraisers are those that participate and also those who donate their time and energy in preparing for the meal itself.
Barry and Heather VanLaar continued their tradition of donating the hams for the supper which was sponsored by Encana, who have traditionally given back to the communities they work around.
In some upcoming events, the Standard Library will be presenting, via video conferencing, the “Let’s Talk Money,” an eight part Financial Literacy Series. It starts on Thursday, Nov. 1, 7-8 p.m.
Arrive 15 minutes before the program begins, and coffee and tea will be provided.
The Standard Library also wants all those that are young at heart in the community to “get ready to rumble” as Nintendo WII Sports Day is back!
Coming to the Library on Saturday, Nov. 3rd, at 1 p.m. This event is for ages 10 and up. Sign up is required to participate. The main event is boxing. Are you a champ? Will you take home the trophy?
For more information on either of these events stop by the Standard Library or please call Adreena at (403) 644-3995 to register and book your spots.
