Rather than having a big Christmas party and dinner for the staff at Home Hardware, there was a small in-house celebration.
The extra money which would normally have been used towards the party, was instead donated to Growing Opportunities. Perry Banadyga and his wife Cindy own the Strathmore Home Hardware, and Cindy is a member of the Growing Opportunities board.
“For the ladies night we give to the food bank and this was just because of my wife’s involvement and seeing the need there. We thought it’s a little less known charity that we thought we would like to give to that and help them out, they are in desperate need of cash,” said Perry.
Lisa Sader, who accepted the cheque for $400 on behalf of Growing Opportunities, said the money was to be used for purchasing things for Christmas for the families.
“Our funding is not always stable so we do rely on additional donations and our families really appreciate these extras,” said Sader.
Growing Opportunities is programs which focus on helping pregnant woman who may need help, or just have questions. There are different types of support services offered for both during the pregnancy and after delivery.
