The Strathmore High School senior girls and boys volleyball teams hosted their annual tournament Nov. 2-3. The weekend was filled with many exciting rallies, nail-biter games, and lots of hard-earned wins.
Both teams intensity grew this weekend, as well as the bond between the players.
The Senior Girls started off strong in the tournament and kept the intensity throughout. They won all five games, as well as quarter and semi-finals, which was a first this year.
“They were patient and confident in their plays,” said Coach Randy Moncks.
At finals they played against their long time competitors, Brooks. The girls played an aggressive three sets and were able to pull through, winning the tournament. Reflecting on this tournament, Moncks said, “our upcoming playoff games and Zone Championships look very promising with the strong team we have this year.”
The boys had a very successful tournament, coming second in their pool and making it to the Quarter Finals. Over the course of the tournament, the Senior Boys played their rival opponents Senator Gershaw. The boys lost both sets, but were able to come back from 10 points and end the set with a score of 23-25.
Coach Brandie Dundas was very impressed with how far the boys have improved since the beginning of the year and believes that they have a strong chance in the upcoming playoffs.
League finals continue through this week.
