Planning for any event made a little easier

Whether it is a bridal shower, a corporate meeting or a wedding, planning an event is time-consuming and can be a hectic process.

Brenda Duffield, who purchased Gold Standard Events a year and a half ago, is the Design Co-ordinator. She says that event planners have several advantages, similar to a wedding planner, including stress relief and consultations.

“We are immersed in everything to do with weddings and events so we have a lot of creative sources to pull from for ideas to make your event unique and suited to you and your guests,” Duffield said.

To make an event stand out, Duffield recommends a theme to help tie all details in together. Duffield also suggests that picking a theme that is relevant to the event can give it extra continuity. 

Amanda Bazant, owner of Studio B Events, agrees that events with a theme boost the entire experience for both hosts and guests.

“[The guests] are taking time out of their day to enjoy your event,” Bazant said, “you want to make them feel welcome.”

Duffield said the cost of the event varies mostly on the size, rather than the type. “It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of planning an event,” says Duffield. 

“I can’t stress enough the importance of having a well-organized and co-ordinated event,” says Duffield. 

Bazant says “food is huge,” especially in a wedding, as well as spending money on decor to help tie everything in the event together. Duffield says event planners “know about all the details” that can often get overlooked, and they also know “touches that make your event stand out.”

Bazant also recommends the use of social media sites, such as Pinterest and Instagram. Bazant said these tools are “essentials” for all, even planners, and they often refer back to them to get new and fresh ideas.
