 Nielson, Jack Bennett

1930 – 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather & friend.  Jack was born in Ravenscraig, SK on July 21, 1930.  He farmed in the Eastend district for many years before moving to Alberta to work at various jobs throughout his career.  He certainly was a jack of all trades.  His most recent jobs were at the Strathmore Golf Course and was still doing the grounds at the Strathmore Legion.  He recently moved into the Wheatland Lodge and was loving it there.  He was a great hunter, trapper and fisherman.  He also loved berry picking and making jams, jellies and pickles – some of which he won ribbons at local fairs.  He was know to some as Trapper Jack.  I know he had many friends in Strathmore and he sincerely loved being around you all.  He was predeceased by his mother, father, stepfather, and one son Robert.  He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Don) and 2 grandsons, Shaun (Robyn) and great-granddaughters Annabelle and Haven, and Curtis and also  his son Brian (Cindy) and grandson Ryan (Lonnie), great-grandson Gage and great-granddaughter River.  A celebration of Jack’s live will be held at the Strathmore Legion on Sunday, November 4th at 1:00.  We would like to extend a special thank-you to Bob & Yvonne Hartell and Dixie Hartell for all they did for Dad in his last months.
