Councillor Don Vander Velde questioned why gravel for the Carseland Fire Hall had not been delivered. He said it had already been delayed a year. Councillors moved that the county will purchase and deliver the gravel expediently and the bill for the gravel forwarded to the Brooks contractor.
FENCING PROPOSAL
Staff opened three tenders for the 2012-2014 County fencing contracts in council. The three applicants were Ratteray Reclamation, DENCO and McKay Fencing. The company’s proposals were evaluated on 20 items of criteria and a recommendation was made to council. The contract was awarded to DENCO.
TAX BACK
A ratepayer inadvertently paid double property tax. Their mortgage company already paid taxes, so Council voted to give the extra tax back to the owner.
RAISE EXPLANATION
Wheatland County Housing Body replied to Council’s inquiry about raised fees. The Body has incurred increased costs that average about $8.91 per person. The increases were due to wage increases, lost revenue from increased vacancy rates and uncertainty about forthcoming grant money.
