Local boys shine at Inline Provincials

Calgary U12 Cyclones Coach

Calgary U12 Cyclones had a strong Strathmore influence after winning the Gold Medal in the Calgary Roller Hockey League in the U12 Competitive Division on June 17. They then travelled to Edmonton for the Alberta Inline Provincials on June 22 – 24. They went all the way to the semi-finals beating out the host team Edmonton Blades in a round robin but lost with a valiant effort in the semi-finals against the Red Deer Snipers 9-7.
The boys went undefeated until the semi-final game hoping to make it to the gold medal game. They were up against a lot of teams that practice at least once a week and have played together for many years. For most of the Strathmore players, this was the first year they have played inline hockey having played most of their hockey years on ice not cement, so it was a very impressive and rewarding season.
The players that represented the Calgary Cyclones from Strathmore were Lucas Muenchrath, Jared Kirkpatrick, Rylie Stovka, Connor Dunlop, Tyler Strath, Joel Krahenbil and Isaac Benoit. The other players that were apart of this team were Ty Skehar, Malik Kaddoura (from Chestermere) Ty Stewart (from Beiseker) and Jaryd Assenheimer and Matteo Driusso (from Calgary). Assistant coach Ryan Kirkpatrick was also instrumental in helping out this season.
They look forward to another ice hockey season ahead of them and hope to rejoin as a inline hockey team next spring.
