After losing their first game of the season, the Wheatland Kings responded with a big win on home ice the following day against the Banff Bears.
The Kings used a four-goal second period to break a 1-1 stalemate en route to a 7-4 win over the Bears on Sept. 29, improving to 3-1 on the season.
Ross Fox scored three times and added a pair of helpers, while Andrew Bergmann recorded a goal and three assists to lead the way for the Kings. Sam Lonnberg added a pair of goals and an assist, while rookie Rylan Muenchrath also tallied for the Kings. Evan Elaschuk added a pair of helpers and Mike Samoil, Austin Larsen and Aaron Durant each recorded an assist in the win.
Unfortunately, the Kings started the weekend with a 5-2 loss in Medicine Hat on Sept. 28. Bergmann led the way with a goal and an assist and Ross Fox added the other goal in the losing cause. Lonnberg and Austin Fisher each registered an assist for the Kings.
Things will become much more difficult for the local junior B team this weekend when they travel to Okotoks on Oct. 5 and Coaldale the following evening.
The next home game is Oct. 13 (8 p.m.) against High River.
