Sustaining the Class Act Award that was recently dropped by a daily newspaper, the Strathmore Times will be continuing to acknowledge commendable students who are easily considered a ‘Class Act.’
Holy Cross Collegiate’s Strathmore Times Class Act Award was received by recently graduated, Kirsten Dunlop.
“She is a model student, she’s well received by her peers, her teachers, she’s polite, she’s respectful, courteous, diligent in her studies, and hard working. She’s a student that everybody would love to have in their building, she’s a great role model for so many kids,” said Principal of Holy Cross Collegiate (HCC) Lavern Evans of the Strathmore Times Class Act recipient.
The award has so far been delivered verbally, as HCC’s award ceremony will not be taking place until October, when many post secondary students will be back for Thanksgiving weekend.
“We’ll sit down with the staff and figure out the what the right recognition will be, it’s still nice it’s still being recognized, it’s a nice reward to be received,” said Evans.
Now that Dunlop’s high school career is over, she described her feeling as being ‘relieved.’
“I’m kind of glad that it’s over and I’m moving on,” said Dunlop.
Dunlop is accepted into Mount Royal’s nursing program and will be attending in the fall.
“She’s a great kid and we are going to miss her next year at Holy Cross. We know she’ll be successful and go on to do great things, she has that attitude, work ethic, and demeanour, she’s just an all around great individual and we were lucky to have had her in the building the last several years,” said Evans.
