The Hussar Waste Transfer Site was broken into for the third time in the past 1.5 years. The break-in damaged the rolling gate, at a cost of approximately $5,000. All that was stolen were garbage bags, and the surveillance camera was disabled.
“It’s been an ongoing problem,” said Councillor Ben Armstrong. “There have been other instances of vandalism in Hussar. One good picture of the culprit could deal with this.”
Requests were made for police surveillance. Up until now, there was speculation as to who the culprits were. Since the camera was disabled, it is s thought that the culprit knew how to get around the system.
“There are insurance claims and damages. Get Seamans or people that deal with security to see what can be done,” suggested Chief Administrative Officer Jennifer Deak.
Council requested that staff have security companies research the issue and come back with suggestions for dealing with the problem.
