Heavy vehicles denied parking

Council passed revisions to Bylaw #12-15, which bans heavy vehicles from parking along truck routes where ‘No Heavy Vehicle Parking’ signs are posted.
In this particular case, East Lake Boulevard, now called Centennial Drive, will have ‘No Heavy Vehicle Parking’ signs posted.
“There was some confusion in the past that the bylaw meant there would be no parking at all for heavy vehicles on the truck routes around town. This revision clarifies that parking is not allowed only if the signs prohibiting it are in place,” said Jennifer Sawatzky, Municipal Clerk.
Area residents have been concerned about semi-trucks and trailers parking overnight on Centennial Drive. They had concerns about early morning noise and safety issues. The town recently tore down a barrier fence along the drive allowing easier access, sight lines and noise levels to the houses bordering the road.
There was some discussion whether this would call into question heavy vehicle parking on other roads along the truck routes within the Town of Strathmore.
