Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools provide and authentic Catholic education to students in traditional schools in Canmore, Brooks, Drumheller, High River, Okotoks, Oyen and Strathmore. Online schooling and blended programs are available to students all over Alberta and around the world through the centre for Learning@HOME.
· We have two main schools serving Strathmore: Sacred Heart (K-6), Holy Cross (7-12). (The Centre For Learning @ Home (1-12) serves home education and online students in Strathmore.)
· Sacred Heart is an amazing school by all accounts. The Alberta Accountability Pillar (AAP) Report was released in May 2012 (and set to be updated with newer results in October 2012). The AAP measures academic performance and stakeholder (student, parent, and staff) satisfaction with the quality of the school. The rating of “Very High” represents performance in the top 5% of all schools in the province when the standards were set based on three years of aggregated provincial data. In other words, on every measure of academic performance and stakeholder satisfaction, Sacred Heart shines, rating in the top 5% of all schools in the province.
· A few highlights are that 93.7% of students, parents, and staff feel the school is safe and caring. 96.3% are satisfied with the quality of education. One of the amazing things is although they are already superbly high performing, 86.3% feel the school is improving each year.
· Please note, the PAT results are the exams the students write and from the 2010/2011 school year so they are out of date. We will be getting new results (and a new report) on October 1st.
· Holy Cross is similarly excellent. They are very high or in the top 5% in 10 of the 16 measures of performance. They are high (or in the top 25%) in 3 of the 16 measures of performance. They are only intermediate (middle 60%) in three measures of performance.
· A few highlights are that 93.6% of students, parents, and staff feel the school is safe and caring. 90.8% are satisfied with the quality of education. The high school completion rate is 92.2% as compared to a provincial rate of 74.1%. Although they are already high performing, 84.8% feel the school is improving each year.
· Again the PAT and Diploma exam results are out of date (2010/2011) and will be updated in October.
· Both schools are beginning a new project to promote high levels of student literacy across the curriculum.
· Both schools continue to emphasize student faith formation.
