Chiefs snap losing streak

The Wheatland Chiefs snapped a three-game losing streak by pounding the Lacombe Rockets 6-2 on Dec. 7 at the Hussar Arena.
Sparked by three first period goals, the local double-A midget team added two more goals in the second period and one in the third en route to the win.
Dalton Dubetz notched the hat-trick, while Jordan Jarvis and Tyson Kapty each added three assists in the win. Kristian Ayoungman, Brandon Russell and Brooker Pretty Young Man each scored for the Chiefs, while Dakota Taylor made 28 saves for the win.
Wheatland will look to improve on their 9-10-1 record when they host the CNHA Blazers on Dec. 14 (7:30 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre. The Chiefs will play one more game on Dec. 22 before taking a couple of weeks off for the Christmas break.
Braves continue winning ways
The Wheatland Braves improved to 16-1-0 on the season, after a 6-2 road win over the Medicine Hat Venom on Dec. 7.
The local double-A peewee team scored four first-period goals, before scoring once in second and third periods respectively.
Cole Reinhardt scored twice and added an assist, while Ryan Ries added a goal and an assist in the win. Joel Krahenbil, Issac Benoit and Kale Clouston each registered a goal.
The Braves have a busy weekend ahead, as they travel to face the tough Lethbridge Giants (Dec. 14, 8:30 p.m.) and the Innisfail Flyers (Dec. 15, 3:40 p.m.), before retuning home to host the Lethbridge Eagles (Dec. 16, 1:30 p.m.) in Hussar.
Warriors back in action
The Wheatland Warriors resume league action this weekend, when they host the Foothills Bisons on Dec. 16 (4:15 p.m.) at the Strathmore Family Centre.
The local double-A bantam team, which boasts a 12-5-3 record, will cap off the month with a road game in Airdrie on Dec. 22 (2 p.m.) before the Christmas Break.
