Carseland Recreation Centre rejuvenation underway

After enduring several years of roofing damages, the Carseland Recreation Centre has raised enough funds to make the repairs.
The roof is currently in the process of renovation and will be followed with the construction of a skate park unit on the East side of town. If all goes smoothly, both facilities should be complete by the end of the month.
A large portion of the funds raised was donated by Encana, as well as the Community Facility Enhancement Program, funded by the Alberta Lottery Fund, totalling over $30,000.
“We are always looking for donations from the public for repairs and upgrades in the curling rink because the building is over 30 years old. Going forward, we would like to put in some energy efficient lighting, to make our electrical footprint smaller and make it more cost effective to run it,” said Bev Ross, from the Carseland and District Community Association and Agricultural Society.
Now that the building will be in better shape, Ross hopes that the recreation centre can be more of use to the public, other than just the curling club.
“A lot of people in the area call it the curling rink, but the actual name of it is the Carseland Recreation Centre. It’s been called the curling rink because that’s the only use it’s had for the last number of years,” said Ross.
