After putting on such a great performance last year, Strathmore’s Musical Arts Society has invited John Wort Hannam to come back for a second show.
“We really, really loved his first performance, it was full of energy and he had a good contact with the audience and his music was just excellent,” said Linda Storkson, with the society.
“Since last playing Strathmore, I have written a new album that will be recorded in April. The album will be a more stripped down affair with fewer instruments and sparser production. I have also toured the Maritimes, Florida, Montana, and New York, and written the official song for the 2012 Alberta Winter Games,” said Hannam, a Canadian folk musician from Fort Macleod.
He and his wife had their first baby in the past year, and Hannam has been asked to be an Alberta cultural ambassador at Canada House during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.
This year he will be releasing his fifth CD, ‘Brambles and Thorns’.
The show will be held at the Travelodge in the ballroom on March 24. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 and are available through Linda Storkson 403-680-7721 or Lenore 403-934-4196. They are also available at Assist Business Centre, Music Centre Canada, PJ’s Appliances, Pro Water Conditioning or through pay pal on www.strathmorearts.com.
