Chinook Credit Union and the Foothills Advocacy in Motion Society are busy planning the final touches for the second annual Chinook Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament on July 6.
The golf tournament was an idea that was thought of and brought to fruition by Craig McKenzie, program manager with the AIM Society and Bill Crawford, former branch manager for Chinook Credit Union.
Crawford has moved on from the credit union but his replacement, Larry Betts, is just as enthusiastic about the partnership.
“I think the AIM Society is a great organization, it really helps people, it helps those adults with disabilities be active in the community and be part of the community and I think that’s important,” said Betts
“I think it’s important to be involved in our local community and that’s kind of one of my passions or missions. One of my goals is to have a strong presence in the community with not just myself but I think it’s important that the team that I work with are involved in various capacities.”
Cory Szmydt is an AIM Society client and is happy to have them in town.
“I feel like really excited (about) how they came by to help me get another position right now at Canadian Tire and I have already talked to people about putting more hours in and already this week I did. Another thing I’m excited for (is) new trips and maybe one day go back to school if possible and sorts of other different things too,” said Szmydt.
The AIM Society is a support system for people with disabilities and is there to help each person achieve success no matter what it means to them. The school system helps people with disabilities until they’re 18 years old at which point AIM will take over if requested.
There is a $125 entry fee for the golf tournament, which will include 18 holes, a power cart, steak dinner and prizes. Both sponsors and participants are needed.
Registration can be done by either going online to www.chinookcharitygolf.com or contact Larry Betts at 403-934-3358.
