What is the Strathmore Whole Health Expo? The question should be WHO

 

The what it is is simple… the principles of the Strathmore Whole Health Expo is to display products/services/information of alternative and holistic health care solutions that are available in our community. 

This trade fair will be taking place at the Civic Centre on March 31 – April 1, 2012. But the goal is even simpler: We are looking to empower others to improve their health and well-being, through both exposure to and education of the many options available.

This is an age where people are ready to take their own health into their hands. Health begins with finding balance in life. The physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects make up what is our whole self … It is essential to include all of these in our search for understanding of healthy living. And it can be an overwhelming task! The vast number of products, services and ideas that are available can stop your search before you even know where to start.

This is where the WHO comes in. Our community has a wealth of people who offer their knowledge and services to help better the health of those that are looking for it. From doctors, to private nurses, Chinese medicine to massage, chiropractics to colon cleansing, healthy water to healthy skin care, intuitive practitioners to healing horses; we have so much that can help us live healthier, happier and more balanced lives. We just need to find it! And so the Strathmore Whole Health Expo is a place to find WHO has what you need. And if you are one of the people who have something to share with the community, this will be the place to do it!

The WHO of the Strathmore Whole Health Expo Association is made up of volunteers who have been working tirelessly to bring this fair to Strathmore. The following paragraphs are a small self bio by each member, to introduce themselves and the reason that they are proud to be a part of this effort. We look forward to the many relationships this annual event is sure to generate!

Cynthia Barnesky – Faith is In Your Hands; Co-Chair Hi everyone, my name is Cynthia Barnesky; just one of the wonderful Ladies that are volunteering her time to bring to you the Strathmore Whole Health Expo that is coming to Strathmore March 31 and April 1, 2012. I am a Registered and Certified Massage Therapist, Certified Reflexology and IonCleanse Foot Bath Practitioner and a Reiki and Intuitive Reader/Healer Holistic Practitioner and I have been practicing here in Strathmore for four years now. But I have lived here for over eight years and have noticed that through the years there has not been very many Holistic Practitioners advertising. 

As a Holistic Practitioner myself now, I feel very passionate about healing the whole body naturally; mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually and that I have had a hard time getting myself out there. Advertising is very expensive to a small business and I wanted to give the small Holistic Practitioner a place to present their services and products to the community. But the most important thing is to give the community a place that they could find a Holistic Practitioner with natural services, products and information that they might have never known that was out there. I hope to see you and your family at the Expo and maybe you can find a Holistic Practitioner or some natural products that will help your body heal naturally! Thank you all, heal naturally!

 

Nancy Hiller – Co-Chair, Treasurer Why did I become a committee member? Because I totally believe there are so many natural ways we can take care of our whole health, (mind, body and soul). Stress is the #1 cause of disease, so learning to relax by meditating, doing yoga, tai chi, having a massage, or finding a new avenue that you may not even know exist makes total sense to me. If I can be a part of helping even one person find a product or service to help them reduce the stress in their life I would consider our expo a success.

 

Connie McDonald – Registered Nurse; Volunteer My name is Connie McDonald and I believe The Whole Health Expo is such a great opportunity for all the people of Strathmore to learn what kinds of supportive therapies are available near you to prevent illness, assist with pain control, and promote wellness and healing. I am privileged to help organize this Expo and promote what modalities are available near you. Please come out and promote your talents, and products or just attend to learn how you can support your families’ wellness needs. The proceeds will go to Strathmore Growing Families Society.

 

Donna Shortt – Dental Hygeinist; Volunteer My name is Donna Shortt. I am a Dental Hygienist with over 20 years of experience in my field. Although dental hygiene is my profession, personal growth/whole health is my passion. From my own life experience, it has been this journey towards finding that delicate balance between body, mind and soul that has been most fulfilling. It is my hope in being a part of this society to provide the people of Strathmore, access to and information about alternative and complimentary health care options within our own community and to encourage all of you to “take your health into your hands”.

 

Becky Stone – Yoga Teacher – Secretary

I am an instructor of Hatha yoga. I feel like I am always learning more every day – about the human body, and how it is so closely tied to both the emotional/mental and spiritual bodies. This idea of a trade fair to showcase the options available to a community has been brewing in my mind for a few years now. This is the town that I grew up in, and I am blessed to be back to raise my family. And the community of Strathmore is bursting with fantastic opportunities to improve your health. Just like there is no one right way to practice yoga, there is no one right way to find health and balance in your life. 

We are all on our own journeys. It is our responsibility to protect our health and that of our family’s, and I feel so blessed to be a part of helping others along this journey of discovery!

There are so many wonderful and innovative ideas out there, and be they ancient or cutting edge, somewhere are the solutions you are looking for. And maybe, just maybe, you will find it at the 2012 Strathmore Whole Health Expo. Can’t wait to meet you!
