‘Snoopy’s skate-tastic adventure’ was put on by the Strathmore Skate Club for their annual carnival. The carnival took place March 13, and Snoopy and Woodstock went on an adventure to different countries. They travelled all over the world during the first act, going to places such as Egypt and Japan. In the second act Snoopy and the Red Baron had a mini battle in which the Red Baron booby-trapped the doghouse, making it into a time machine. They travelled through time, seeing a variety of different events, both in the future and the past, before returning home.
“It’s just to showcase the skaters so that they can show off their skills to their family and friends. It’s to show their achievements, what they have accomplished for the year,” said organizer Leanne Woodcock.
There was a King and Queen for the carnival – the queen was Rebecca Faulks, and Jaxon Campbell was the king. Brenda Lochhead sewed costumes for 96 skaters. The Calgary Synchronized Skating Club came out to take part in the carnival. Five time Polish National skating champion Maciek Cieplucha was the guest skater for the carnival. Woodcock admitted the club already has an idea in mind for next year’s carnival, though they aren’t letting out any hints at this point.
