Spartans bring home bronze

JV Girls Volleyball Coach
The Strathmore Spartans JV girls Volleyball team was at it again this past weekend in Canmore. They made the journey to the Rockies for the annual Rocky Mountain tournament. The girls played the Brooks Buffalos in their opening match, splitting the two games in a tie.
The Buffalo/Spartan rivalry is definitely an intense one on the court, but off court both teams were seen cheering for each other. The girls finished off the round robin by beating Louis St. Laurent from Edmonton, Foothills Composite from Okotoks, and Highwood from High River. The Spartans ended up in second place in the tie breaking game.
In the quarterfinals the Spartans played J. Percy Page from Edmonton and beat them two straight. Next was Holy Trinity from Okotoks. The girls played well, forcing a third game, but came up a little short losing the third game 15-9.
This set them up for another meeting with the Brooks Buffalos in the Bronze Medal Game. The Spartans won the first set 25-20 and then surrendered a 10-point lead in the second.
The Spartans were able to come back and win the second set 26-24, taking home the bronze medal from the Rocky Mountain Tournament. Spartan Alyssa Lavallee was also named the tournament All-star.
