Schneider, Keith
Schneider, Keith
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Schneider at the age of 61 years. He passed away with his three girls at his side on February 11, 2011, after a most courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Gwen; daughters Amanda (Andrew) Van Ham and Krystal; grandchildren Benjamin and Trinity; parents Ben and Anne; brother Lyle (Sandy); sister Denise (Cordell “Big Deal”) Verwiere; and many nieces and nephews. Keith was born November 10, 1949 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan before moving to Calgary for university. The greatest man we ever knew, Keith will forever be remembered as an incredible teacher, principal and the Mayor of Strathmore. He treated each person he ever met with an ease of kindness, fairness, and grace and impacted many with his amazing speaking abilities. He affected more lives than we could ever know and his passion and dedication will never be forgotten. By those who knew him best, Keith will be remembered as a hero. The rock of the Schneider family, he was a loving and devoted husband, the best Dad in the entire world, and a loyal friend. We are blessed to have known and loved him and are honoured that he loved us back. Through everything, he had an inspiring and unwavering faith in God and he was a fighter until the very end: of that we couldn’t be more proud. We will love you and miss you forever, and remember; it’s a win-win situation. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Hope Community Covenant Church at 3:00 p.m. Donations in Keith’s memory may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (1331-29 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 4N2).
