Staff Sgt. Larry Marzinzik with the Strathmore RCMP presented the Annual Performance Plan, APP, to council on June 21. Many things have stayed the same over the 2010 year as they had in 2009, with only a few changes. There has been a 30 per cent decline in fatal vehicle accidents, while there was a 10 per cent increase in non-fatal accidents. There has been an 11 per cent increase in thefts.
Public works
Wheatland County and the public works department will once again be loaning out a grader and water truck to Rockyford to help get the track ready for their upcoming rodeo.
Carseland will also be making use of a grader this weekend to get their track ready in time for Aggie Days, beginning on June 24.
Sandbags
The Carseland Fire Department requested 5,000 sandbags from the county to keep on hand in the event they may need them.
Gerry Van Ooostwaard Public Works Superintendent for Wheatland County said the bags should remain empty because they will rot over time. A motion was made to increase the number of bags kept on hand by the county, and to distribute them as needed.
Streetlight
Rosebud will be getting a new streetlight. The light will be at the west end of 2nd Ave. Fortis Alberta said they will put a light in at no cost to the county as long as they use the existing light post.
