Pet owners rejoice

Have you wondered where to take your furry friend for their next vet visit? Or maybe wondering where to buy a sturdy leash, but don’t want to drive all the way to Calgary?
At the end of April Strathmore will have its very first Pet Expo and help point people in the right direction.
“We want to make Strathmore citizens aware that we have every pet need, pretty much, that you could ask for here in Strathmore,” said Melissa Crispin-Piche of Tail Waggers Dog Walking Service.
“We want to keep it local. We want people to know that you don’t have to go to Calgary to get your pet’s needs taken care of.”
Crispin-Piche has paired up with Melissa David of Quality Dog Grooming, to organize and host the expo. David said through her dog grooming business she has met a lot of people that have asked her where they can go for other pet services, so they don’t have to go to the city.
“So I thought if we could get everybody into one place at one time, maybe we could better ourselves a little bit and promote local,” said David.
She said there are already quite a few people who have signed up to have an exhibit, and a number of people helping with sponsorship.
“Anything that can be related to the pet industry we’re happy to have in for sure,” said David.
Paradise Kennels will be showing agility demonstrations and will also be teaching basic obedience. Happy Cat Sanctuary will be coming to show off the cats that they have, and what the sanctuary can do. The Town will be putting up a booth and going over bylaws and giving out maps to the dog park.
“We’re hoping to get a couple of trick riders in to talk about the local trick riding programs,” said David.
The Expo will be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on April 30 at the Civic Centre, with set-up beginning at 8 a.m. for all exhibitors. Every table is going to donate a product or service, which will be raffled off, and all of the money will be split between the non-profit organizations that are in attendance.
