O’Keefe. Lois Emilie
Lois Emilie O’Keefe
Our sister, our mother, our teacher and best friend;
Lois Emilie O’Keefe, of Strathmore, AB, died peacefully
in her sleep on April 10, 2011 at the age of 72.
Lois was born November 30, 1938, in Wetaskiwin, AB,
to Arthur and Abigail Fonteyne, where she grew up with her three brothers. She attended nursing school through the Misericordia Hospital, in Edmonton, AB, took time to raise her kids and then returned to work with the Good Samaritan Society where she served for over 25 years, caring for others.
She is survived by her brothers Warren, Darol and Lorne; her loving children Grant, Gail, Scott and Joanne, their father Charles Edward and her cherished grandchildren Meghan, Jackson, Mackenzie, Alicia, Victoria, Keaton, Rylan and Phineas.
Those that knew Lois treasured her; for not only an infectious laugh that warmed your heart, but also how she inspired us with her compassion, empathy and unwavering selflessness and kindness; always putting others before herself. She was a private person who held her friends close and family even closer. Her intense love of family and passion for life she shared with all of us through her love of music, dance and singing.
Abigail and Arthur please take your daughter and hold her tight, just as she, our mother and grandmother, did with us.
Interment will be held in Wetaskiwin, AB, in a private memorial with immediate family. Condolences can be made through the Wheatland Funeral Home in Strathmore, AB, at www.wheatlandfuneralhome.ca
And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count.
