Not your average bridal show

Strathmore has never seen a bridal show quite like this before. On Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Strathmore Centennial Civic Centre will be transformed into a make-believe wedding reception, a different take on your average trade show.
The Strathmore Bridal Show is being presented by Studio B Events, a business which provides service in wedding and event planning.
“A lot of people have had positive feedback for it. I really wanted to show a different style of weddings rather than what people see normally, so that was my main aspect,” said Amanda Bazant, the wedding and event designer of Studio B Events.
Main events include a fashion show which begins at 11 a.m. and a second show at 10 p.m. All bridal and bridesmaid dresses are courtesy of Sunshine Bridal and Sew Delicious; models of all sizes will be fashioning the many dresses.
As well, many door prizes will be available, the largest prize being a three month lease on a new Ford Fiesta, courtesy of Byron Smith Ford. Smaller prizes include a month of wedding co-ordinations from Studio B Events, and a special gift from Home Hardware.
The Centre will also be filled with vendors that focus on hair, makeup, jewellery, and facial products.
“No matter what it is, whether it’s a wedding or a corporate party, it’s not really focused just to brides, anyone can come, any woman will enjoy this,” said Bazant.
Within the last month, Bazant feels that the show has finally been coming together. She gives kudos to DJ Split Circuit Sound putting together the music and lighting for the fashion show, as well as the entire event.
“I’ve done trade shows in the past, but something to this scale, it’s a bigger thing that I’ve done in a long time. It’s really neat to see it all come to together,” said Bazant.
Bazant is hopeful and expects over 200 to attend the event. Courtesy of Weddings in Alberta, the first 200 to attend will receive a free wedding magazine.
“It’s just a unique event that will show newly engaged couples a different twist on their wedding. It’s a different event than what we’ve seen,” said Bazant.
Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. More information about the Bridal Show and Studio B Events can be found at www.studio-b-events.com.
