The Strathmore and District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards was so successful last year, it is coming back again this year.
“We’ve got some new awards that are going to be out this year,” said Marcy Field with the Chamber.
“There’s three new awards, one is we’ve taken the community spirit award and that’s been divided into two presentations. One that will go to a business and one that will go to a non-profit organization that serves the community.”
The third new award is the 2011 Employer of Choice Awards. The award is for the company which shows excellence in its approach to workforce development.
“The Chamber is delighted to announce another award to recognize success and innovation in our local business community,” said Chamber President Steve Jeffrey in a press release.
“We look forward to celebrating the efforts made by area businesses to attract and retain employees. The accomplishments of local businesses are now recognized through eight awards being presented this year.”
There will also be a Chamber Business of the Year, where members will be recognizing one of their own, who has been active and engaged with the chamber and the projects they are doing with community, and economic development in the town.
“We thought there’s some really neat things happening in town, and it was a great opportunity to move forward and to recognize more of the businesses,” said Field.
“And to make people more aware of some of the great work and hard work that goes on by some of the business owners in town.”
One of the other awards include Business of the Year, honouring one business in each level from small, medium and large businesses.
The Awards ceremony will be held Oct. 20, and once again people in attendance will have a chance to pick who they think should win the Emerging Entrepreneur award. Unfortunately nominations are already closed for this award.
The deadline for the remaining nominations is Sept. 30, and though the business does not need to be a chamber member, it must be in Strathmore and the surrounding area.
Full Awards criteria and the nomination form are available at The Chamber office at 205 – 3rd Avenue, Strathmore or can be viewed on-line at www.strathmoredistrictchamber.com.
