On Dec. 1 Savin’ Strathmore launched its new online free classified website, and has already had over 2,000 visits to the site.
“Savin’ Strathmore was founded not only to be a free online classified listing for Strathmore and area, but also to be a point of community connection where neighbours can come and help each other prosper and meet needs,” said Ryan Parkins, a member of the Savin’ Strathmore team.
“We launched it on Thursday (Dec. 1) and over the weekend it’s grown to 120 fans. We’ve already had a ton of businesses contacting us regarding putting deals into it and the limited advertising that there is on it, about purchasing that. It kind of blew up pretty quick.”
The site was made to help promote an easy one-stop location to sell used wares, find community listings, and to help promote local not for profit causes.
“It’s free and events that are not for profit events, like fundraising for clubs and things like that, those are always free, same with community notices and things like that,” said Parkins.
At the bottom of search pages, or ads, there is a section that will always be dedicated to the local causes. There is also a weekly deal for people to purchase. Businesses will offer a product or service for a minimum of 50 per cent off, and Parkins said the newest deal will benefit people with children just in time for Christmas.
“It’s basically to just help stimulate local business and local business connections,” said Parkins.
