New era of Strathmore High

Summer is coming to a close, meaning school is just starting to swing into full action. There is one thing; however, that separates this year from any other. For many years, the school has had TA (Teacher Adviser), or D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read), where students would read quietly for three out of five days of the week, and were able to do homework during TA.
This is the beginning of a new era for the high school. The administration changed D.E.A.R and TA to learning strategies or study hall, which allows the students to go to their teachers to either catch up on missed work, or get help with the things they are struggling with. In many ways it is a very useful class, but to some of the students, it’s a waste of time. For the students that finish their work in class and have nothing else to do, they sit and read for the half an hour of learning strategies, while everyone else works busily on their work.
