Arno Doerksen invited the new Minister of Culture and Community Spirit, the Hon. Heather Klimchuk, to come and experience Rosebud and the surrounding areas.
Klimchuk, who replaced Lyndsay Blackett in Parliament, toured the facilities at Rosebud with Doerksen and also took the opportunity to have some short meetings with some of the constituents from his riding. They checked out the progress of Standard’s new hall (and members of the hall board) and were told that the groundbreaking would take place in early 2012.
Klimchuk spoke to the fifty plus residents from the area who had gathered in the Harvest Room in the new Rosebud Encana Centre for a delicious lunch on Friday.
Klimchuk says she is “thrilled with her portfolio and is amazed at the incredible treasures in Alberta” that she is being made aware of. One of her goals is to plan a Forum on Culture to build better partnerships with events and cultural organizations in the province.
The gathering of constituents was a private fundraising event for Doerksen’s campaign platform. The early dinner in Rosebud was followed by a viewing of Rosebud’s Christmas Show “The Gift of the Magi.”
