The West Wheatland 4-H Show and Sale is fast approaching and 9-year-old Landon Hebbes is pounding the pavement asking for his community’s help. Every year the Standard 4-H Club has a young person look after raising the Charity Lamb. Landon is this year’s young person and he is hoping that his Charity Lamb “Hornet” will be able to raise money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. He picked his lamb from his family farm in March and has fed, halter-broke and cared for him ever since. It is now time for him to market his lamb, so Landon has been going around to businesses in Strathmore asking for support in his endeavor to raise money for other children.
He has not been able to visit with every business in town, so if he hasn’t been by to visit with you, give him a call and he would be glad to give you information. The Children’s hospital has been a huge part of his family’s life as his sister has been seeing doctors there since she was born 15 years ago, and she will undergo heart surgery on June 24 by Dr. Clegg from the Children’s.
Fifty per cent of the money will go to the Children’s Hospital, and the buyer will be able to donate the other fifty per cent to their charity of choice. Landon and his family have donated the lamb and the feed, so all the money will be given away. Landon will be advertising his lamb on Q91 the week before the sale as Strathmore Motor Products generously sponsored his air-time.
Alberta Children’s Hospital serves more than 75,000 patients each year. When you give to the Children’s Hospital you are supporting family-centered child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research. Many people know someone who has benefitted from this amazing hospital. Landon is asking that you come and bid or send a bid in on his lamb on June 11 at 3 p.m. in the Rockyford Arena. If you are planning on attending this event the members will be showing their sheep at 9 a.m., a complimentary lunch will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and then the sale will start at 3 p.m. Please come out and support kids helping kids. If you would like more information please contact Landon’s Mom at 403-901-5756.
