Gleichen hosts fourth annual show & shine

Great weather and great vehicles made the fourth annual Gleichen Show & Shine a success at the recent Fall Fair.
Sixteen entries in all categories gave the voting public something to think about when they cast their ballots. This year’s five category winners are:
Classic Car/Truck – Stock: Fraser Flamond (1929 Hudson Essex)
Classic Car/Truck – Modified: Steve Ottens (1928 Ford Model A)
Modern Car/Truck (1980+): Wes Herron (1986 Trans Am)
Farm Tractor: George Green (Massey Harris)
Motorcycle: Lorne Moore (2007 Honda Shadow)
One of the Judges Choice awards went to Ray Ost of Slave Lake with his 1952 Mercury, which everyone is thankful wasn’t part of the devastation of that area. Bill Smeltzer and his 1957 Ford Fairlane was the second Judges Choice.
Draw winners were Alice Booth, Matt Gartner, Dan Goertz, Elsie Smedis and Ted Vander Gulik.
The Gleichen Community Development Council would like to thank all participants and those who took the time to submit their ballots after viewing all the vehicles taking part in this year’s show. Thanks to Ron McCanna for lending a hand on Saturday. We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors for their generous donations. Your support made this year’s show first class and allowed us to hear those magic words you want to hear as an organizer, “We’ll be back next year”!
