Girl greatness starts here

 Jordan Diemer

Strathmore Girl Guides

If you are looking a group of girls to make friends with, I know the best one. You can join Girl Guides. We like to help out in the community, go camping, work on badges and sell cookies. We also make crafts. I have had four years of experience with this group and have made many new friends and have learned many new things. Anyone can join … as long as you’re a girl.
Community Service is just one of the good deeds we do. Sometimes the group will go and sing at the senior’s home or we will clean up the park. Whatever it is we will help.
Crafts are a great experience for all ages. For generations you can share what you made with others. But if you mess up that’s ok. Then you can just imagine what it could be.
Since I have been a member of Girl Guides of Canada, I have gone camping at the Calgary Zoo and The Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller. I have also been to many theme camps in and around Strathmore.
Cookie selling is to help our fundraising so we can go camping and have parties. In the fall we sell mint cookies and in spring chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies.
I love guiding because of all of the fun things like community service, camping, crafts and cookie selling.
We are also looking for dedicated volunteers to help run the groups in Strathmore. My mom volunteered when I signed up and she has just as much fun as I do.
You can sign up at R.E.V.S. for the following (age dependant): Tuesday night Sparks, Monday or Tuesday night Brownies, Wednesday night Girl Guides or Monday night Pathfinders.
If you want more information you can call our District Commissioner, Yvonne Thompson at 403-934-4238.
I look forward to meeting you!
