The Carseland Public Benefit Club, PB Club, is one of Albert’s oldest women’s institutes. 2012 will mark their 100th year.
“In each month leading up to the event, which is April 7, 2012, we’re going to feature a decade and just talk about three or four things the club did, three or four things that were going on in the world and maybe a member that was present and (see if there) are any connections to the community still,” said Teri McKinnon, with the club.
The theme is Past, Present and Future. The past will be about what started the club, the present will be what they have been up to, and for the future they have invited the army cadet league to be a part of it. McKinnon said this is because the past had a lot to do with supporting the soldiers overseas. The club believes the future lies within the next generation, and if they are going to feature the next generation then the cadets should be a part of it.
The first week of every month the Strathmore Times will highlight each new decade up until the centennial celebrations in April 2012.
