Cluny sewage
A request for decision was put forth in front of Wheatland county council about sewer funding costs in Cluny.
It has cost the county $138,000 in repairs to the sewer, lagoon and irrigation from 1999 to 2009. Up to this point Cluny residents have not paid a monthly sewage fee to be put into reserve for repairs, while surrounding communities have been. The request is for Cluny to begin paying a fee as of January 1, 2011. The decision has been tabled until June 29, providing council a chance to determine what the fee should be.
Gleichen water tower
High winds have caused the Gleichen water tower to crack, leaving residents with concerns in regards to repairs. The tower is a historical site and figuring out how to refurbish it has been an issue in the community. The Wheatland county council was presented with the issue and on June 15 received confirmation of funding.
The Alberta Historical Foundation, AHRF, will provide $80,980; Wheatland County, $200,000; and both Community Futures Wild Rose and the Gleichen Water Tower Committee will contribute $3,500 each.
